Discussion and Possible Action to Submit Los Alamos County Representative for the Coalition of Sustainable Communities New Mexico Nominating Committee
Recommended Action
I move that Council submit ____________ to be the Los Alamos County Representative for the Coalition of Sustainable Communities New Mexico Nominating Committee.
Body
Los Alamos County is a member of the Coalition of Sustainable Communities New Mexico (CSCNM). The purpose of the Coalition was to build a coalition of New Mexico communities to work together on and advocate for sustainability issues at the state level. As the CSCNM transitions to independent 501(c)3, it is creating a Board of Directors (BOD) to replace the executive committee. There is currently an interim BOD consisting of Anna Hansen, Beth Beloff, and Gary Payton. This BOD will be replaced based upon nominations by a nominating committee. The Nominating Committee shall have 8 members.

The Nominating Committee will consist of one representative from each of the 7 dues-paying member communities as selected by the Steering Committee member(s) from each participating community, plus the Executive Director. Los Alamos County needs to submit their chosen representative on the submission form shown in Attachment A.

The Nominating Committee will participate in several one hour meetings between September 18 and November 22. The responsibilities of the Nominating Committee include:

-Determining BOD candidate submission materials (i.e. resume, cover letter, specific prompts to respond to, etc.)

-Submit a minimum of one to two name(s) for candidacy and solicit them to apply.

-Proposed slate of Directors shall be selected by the Nominating Committee by vote.

-The interim Board will either approve the slate or send recommendations back to the Nominating Committee to reconsider a nominee or nominees.

The deadline for submitting the name for the Los Alamos representative for the Nominating Committee is September 18, 2024.
