Proclamation Designating September 2026, as "Voter Registration Month" and Tuesday, September 15, 2026, as "Voter Registration Day" in Los Alamos County (Accepted by Los Alamos County Clerk Michael Redondo)

WHEREAS, voting is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of democracy, which gives every citizen a voice in the decisions that shape our communities, state, and nation; and,
WHEREAS, National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan effort raising awareness, promoting voter registration, and encouraging all eligible citizens to participate in the electoral process; and,
WHEREAS, the Los Alamos County Clerk is committed to maintaining the highest standards of election integrity and ensuring that every eligible voter is registered, informed, and empowered; and,
WHEREAS, the Los Alamos County Clerk values collaboration with community partners and commends the League of Women Voters of Los Alamos for educating and registering voters, including hosting a registration event at the Los Alamos Farmers’ Market on September 24th.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council for the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby proclaim the month of September 2026 as
“Voter Registration Month in Los Alamos County”
AND FURTHERMORE, I do hereby designate Tuesday, September 15, 2026 as
“Voter Registration Day in Los Alamos County”
I call upon all eligible citizens to visit the County Clerk’s Office or NMVote.org to register to vote or update their information as needed, and participate in the democratic process by planning, knowing what is on the ballot, and casting their vote, whether it is early, in person, or by absentee ballot.
