Recommended Action
I move that Council approve the amendment AGR 24-28b-A1 with Sky Elements in the Amount of $471,250, plus Applicable Gross Receipts Tax, for the purpose of providing a second drone show in lieu of a fireworks display at the 2025 4th of July event.
County Manager's Recommendation
The County Manager recommends that Council approve this Amendment as requested.
Body
The 4th of July event is normally held at Overlook Park in White Rock. However, in 2025 the park is not available nor suitable to hold the large event due to field construction and the presence of heavy equipment. Therefore, the 2025 4th of July event is planned to be held at Ashley Pond Park. Given this change for this year's event, a fireworks show will not take place, however, Sky Elements is able to provide an additional 15 minutes show with 250 drones. This addition will provide attendees an estimated 30-minute show to conclude the event. The second drone show will add $42,500.00 to the 2025, therefore increasing the overall 7-year Not-to-Exceed amount.
Alternatives
Council can deny this request, and we provide one 15 minute show with 250 drones as already contracted.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item
The fiscal impact is an increase of $42,500 for the second 15 minute drone show and minimal staff impact for this change.
