The County Manager recommends that Council approve the motion as presented.
Body
On June 26, 2024, the County entered into Services Agreement No. 24-970 with Albuquerque Asphalt, Inc to provide asphalt pavement mill and overlay of county roads in furtherance of the County’s pavement preservation program.

This project will enhance the durability and maintain the service life and Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of North Mesa Road and Mendius Lane. The project consists of an asphalt mill and overlay on North Mesa Road from the Diamond Drive roundabout to the San Ildefonso Road intersection and the entire length of Mendius Lane.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation solicited applications from local municipalities for street improvement funding assistance through the state of New Mexico Municipal Arterial Program (MAP). Funds awarded through MAP are distributed statewide, are limited, and must be expended within the Fiscal Year 2026 construction season. For Fiscal Year 2026, the NMDOT awarded Los Alamos County a combined amount of $227,185, comprised of $170,389 (75% State Share) and $56,796 (25% County match) for the North Mesa Road Pavement Preservation Project.

With execution of this task order, Albuquerque Asphalt anticipates starting work in Los Alamos during the second half of September, with completion of all work by the end of October of this year.
