Title

Possible Action to Give Direction on Draft Ordinance Regarding the Formation of the Inclusivity Board

Recommended Action

I move that Council direct the County Manager to move forward with development of a code ordinance to form the Inclusivity Board as shown in Attachment A.

OR

I move that Council direct the County Manager to move forward with development of a code ordinance to form the Inclusivity Board with the following changes: __________.

Body

The Inclusivity Task Force presented their final report and recommendations to the County Council on March 17, 2026. Their final report is shown in Attachment B.  Council took the following action at that meeting:

"A successive substitute motion was made by Councilor Cull, seconded by Councilor Neal-Clinton, that Council accept the Inclusivity Task Force final report. She further moved that Council direct County staff to draft an ordinance and a cost estimate for an ongoing board/commission to address inclusivity issues.

The successive substitute motion passed 6-1."

Staff has worked with the County Attorney to draft the language shown in Attachment A that would create the Inclusivity Advisory Board.  This item is to give Council to discuss the draft language for scope of Board and make any necessary changes.  Other items that Council should discuss is the number of Board members and their term length.

Alternatives

Council could decide to not form this permanent board or ask for different timing for code ordinance.
