Title

Approval of Budget Revision 2026-32 for an Increase to the Cemetery Fund for Phase One of the Master Plan

Recommended Action

I move that Council approve Budget Revision 2026-32 as summarized in Attachment A and that the attachment be made part of the minutes of this meeting.

County Manager's Recommendation

The County Manager recommends that Council approves budget revision 2026-32 as requested.

Body

The purpose of this budget adjustment is to increase the expenditure budget for the Cemetery Fund by $200,000.  The funds are being requested for design and construction documents for Phase I of the Master Plan.  Once this step is complete, construction will begin, which includes two columbaria, an ossuary, a cenotaph, and a scattering garden within the courtyard. The Master Plan outlines immediate projects from 1-3 years focusing on expanding burial space, improving irrigation, and upgrading the maintenance area.  This first phase will focus on expanding burial spaces. Currently, columbaria niches are sold out and need to make this project a priority so residents have options for their cemetery needs.

Alternatives

Council could choose not to approve the funding for the related programs would be delayed or deferred until further notice.

Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item

The fiscal impact is detailed in Attachment A
