I move that Council designate Melanee Hand as the Voting Delegate for the New Mexico Municipal League Annual Conference on August 25-28, 2026.
Body
The County is a member of the New Mexico Municipal League. Municipal Judge Elizabeth Allen is currently the voting delegate for the County. Judge Allen is unable to attend the upcoming Annual Conference. The voting rules for the annual conference state: "Each member municipality in good standing, as determined by the Credentials Committee, registered and attending the Annual Conference shall be entitled to one vote by its delegate appointed by its governing body. Voting by proxy is prohibited. The delegate must be present to cast a vote." Therefore, the Council must appoint another voting delegate if the County would like to have a vote at the annual meeting.
Alternatives
Council could not appoint Councilor Hand and then the County would not have a voting delegate for this annual meeting.
