Title
Comprehensive Plan Update: Public Engagement, Vision Scenarios, Survey Results, and Next Steps
Body
The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range policy document that guides the County’s future growth, development, and investment decisions. It establishes policy direction for land use, housing, transportation, infrastructure, economic development, environmental stewardship, community services, and quality of life.
The current Los Alamos County Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2016, replacing the previous Comprehensive Plan, which had been in place since 1987. The 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update provides an opportunity to evaluate existing policies, incorporate adopted plans and current community priorities, respond to changing conditions, and establish a coordinated vision for the County’s future growth and development.
Council will receive an update on the progress of the Comprehensive Plan Update. The presentation will include information regarding recent public engagement efforts, including open houses, community input received to date, public survey results, and the development of vision scenarios. The update will also provide an overview of the project timeline, key themes emerging from public feedback, and anticipated next steps in the planning process.
The presentation, included as Attachment A, will be provided by the County’s Comprehensive Planning consultants, czb.
