Annually, the Los Alamos County Council adopts a "Federal Agenda."  The document is used as a guide for our intergovernmental efforts at the federal level.  The agenda is developed through the Council Federal Legislative Working Group that meets to produce the message and recommended County priority topics.

Attachment A shows the 2024 Los Alamos Federal Priorities that was approved in January 2024.

Attachment B is the version of the federal priorities that was developed in anticipation of Congressional meetings in March 2025.  This version includes some new items including a request to legislators that the support for alternative energy, including new nuclear energy and consent-based citing, receive support and funding.

In addition, this version includes the following priorities, which are further elaborated within Attachment B:

-- Support for the missions of the Los Alamos National Laboratory

-- Support for NNSA clean up of Rendija Canyon

-- Support for additional land conveyance

-- Request for new well water funding for the County in light of the long-term work on the hexavalent chromium plume

-- Legislative support for appropriations and grants for County projects
