Recommended Action
I move that Council nominate and appoint Brian Watkins to fill one vacancy on the Parks & Recreation Board for the term December 1, 2025 to November 30, 2027.
Body
The purpose of this item is to fill a vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Board. The applicant, Brian Watkins, is seeking a re-appointment for a second term.
This seven-member board has staggered two-year terms beginning December 1 and ending November 30. The current Parks and Recreation Board Member Roster is shown on Attachment A.
The interview panel is recommending appointment of the following applicant:
Brian Watkins [R].
The nominee's party affiliation has been verified with the Clerk's Office.
Mr. Watkins was interviewed by an interview committee on November 21, 2025. The interview committee recommends appointing Mr. Watkins to the Parks and Recreation Board.
The interview committee consisted of the following:
Council Liaison: David Reagor
Parks Superintendent: Wendy Parker
Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote. Appointing this applicant would not violate County Charter concerning political majorities on Boards.
