Acceptance of a Fiscal Year 2024 Enhanced 911Grant Award for “Project No. 24-E-12” and Approval to Execute a Grant Agreement from the Local Government Division of the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration in an Amount Not To Exceed $356,835
Recommended Action
I move that Council accept Fiscal Year 2024 Enhanced 911 grant award for “Project No. 24-E-12” and authorize the County Manager to execute the Enhanced 911 Act Grant Program agreement from the Local Government Division of the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration in an amount not to exceed $356.835 in a form acceptable to the County Attorney.

The County Manager recommends that Council approve the motion as presented.

Enhanced 911 (E-911) grant fund awards are funds the County seeks each year to maintain the 911 system equipment. County staff received notice of grant award on June 21, 2023 and the deadline to accept and enter into a grant agreement is June 30, 2023. The budget estimate included in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Adopted Budget is $189,988. Later in the FY 2024 year, the budget staff will bring a mid-year budget adjustment for recurring grants to reconcile the estimated amounts with the actual award amounts to Council later in the year.

The Enhanced 911 (E-911) Act, NMSA 1978, Section 63-9D-1 places oversight responsibility of the E-911 Program with the E-911 Bureau of the Local Government Division of the Department of Finance. The E-911 Bureau facilitates funding to local public bodies charged with operating E-911 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) using grant agreements, of which the County of Los Alamos has been a recipient for several decades.
