Recommended Action
I move that the Board of Public Utilities approve the purchase of a McCloskey 516RT Trommel from Wagner Equipment Co. in an amount not to exceed $300,000 plus Applicable Gross Receipts Tax.

Body
The FY2024 budget as approved by the Board of Public Utilities and Council included $340,000 for the purchase of a new McCloskey 516RT Trommel for use in composting at the Los Alamos Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
The procurement of equipment complies with Section 31-3(b)(4) of the County Procurement Code as the vendor is a party to Sourcewell Contract No. 032119-CAT, a competitively bid price agreement for heavy equipment purchases. As this purchase is in the amount of $300,000 or less, approval for this equipment will be by the Board of Public Utilities only.
Alternatives
The Board of Public Utilities could choose not to approve the purchase with the potential that should current equipment fail, there would be no back-up equipment available to maintain service resulting in reduced or cessation of composting activity at the WWTP until repairs are completed.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item
The $300,000 purchase price plus applicable gross receipts tax is included in the FY2024 Adopted Budget in the Wastewater Fund.
