Title
NM 502/Trinity Drive Project Update
Body
Following completion of a Road Safety Audit in 2016 Los Alamos County was awarded $4.25 million in Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funding and state match for design, right-of-way acquisition and construction of safety improvements along the section of Trinity Drive (NM502) from Oppenheimer Drive to Knecht Street.
Based on a review of the Safety Audit recommendations, Planning Documents (Downtown Master Plan, Bicycle Transportation Plan), data collection and analysis, a set of alternative improvements were developed. These alternatives were presented to Transportation Board on June 6, 2024 and County Council on two occasions. On August 6, 2024 Council made a motion supporting one of the hybrid road diet alternatives. A second presentation was made to Council on September 10, 2024 to respond to some additional questions and to request a resolution of support for the selected alternative. A resolution of support for a Hybrid Road Diet was completed at the September 10 meeting.
This presentation will provide an update of the design in progress.
