Board/Commission Appointments - Environmental Sustainability Board
Recommended Action
I nominate Shannon Blair, Joseph Chandler, Kella Romero, Kes Luchini, and Michael Dempsey to fill four (4) vacancies on the Environmental Sustainability Board and move that Council appoint four nominees to the vacant positions as follows:
By roll call vote, Councilors vote for four nominees and the four with the highest vote total of four or more votes will be appointed to fill terms that begins on August 1, 2025, and ends July 31, 2027.
Body
The Environmental Sustainability Board (ESB) is a seven-member board with staggered two-year terms beginning August 1 and ending July 31. A copy of the current Board Member roster is attached for reference (Attachment A). The vacancies are a result of ESB member, Hermann Geppert-Kleinrath, whose terms expired; Jesse Derringer who resigned; and Joseph Chandler who served one term and is eligible for reappointment; and Shannon Blair who served one full term and one partial term and is eligible for reappointment.

Applicants were interviewed by an interview committee on June 20 and 23, and July 15, 2025. The interview committee consisted of the following:
ESB Chair/Vice-Chair: Shannon Blair and Sue Barns
Council Liaison/Council Chair: Ryn Herrmann and Theresa Cull
ESB Staff Liaison: Angelica Gurule
The interview committee recommends appointing Shannon Blair and Joseph Chandler to serve a second full term and Kella Romero and Kes Luchini to serve a first full term on the ESB.
