Title

Approval of Amendment No. AGR24-28b-A2 with Sky Elements to Increase the Contract by $51,250, With a Total for the Life of the Contract Not to Exceed $522,500 plus Applicable Gross Receipts Tax, for the Purpose of Providing a Second Drone Show at the 2026 4th of July Event

Recommended Action

I move that Council approve the amendment AGR 24-28b-A2 with Sky Elements to increase the current contract to the amount not to exceed $522,500, plus applicable Gross Receipts Tax, for the purpose of providing a second drone show at the 2026 4th of July event.

County Manager's Recommendation

The County Manager recommends that Council approve this Amendment as requested.

Body

The 4th of July event is normally held at Overlook Park in White Rock and includes a fireworks show. Given the Stage 2 Fire Restrictions, and the recommendation of the New Mexico Governor, the fireworks show will not take place. However, Sky Elements is able to provide an additional 15 minutes show with 250 drones. This addition will provide attendees an estimated 30-minute show to conclude the event. The second drone show will add $51,250 to the 2026 show, therefore increasing the overall seven-year Not-to-Exceed amount to $522,500.

Alternatives

Council can deny this request, and we provide one 15 minute show with 250 drones as already contracted.

Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item

The fiscal impact is an increase of $51,250 for the second 15 minute drone show, which will be covered by the funds for the fireworks contract, and minimal staff impact for this change.
