Recommended Action
I move that Council approve Amendment No. 1 to Services Agreement No. AGR25-922 with Lee-Sure Pools, Inc. in the amount of $1,179,113.46 plus applicable gross receipts tax for Olympic Pool Mechanical System Improvements, establish a revised project budget in the amount of $3,300,000, and approve related Budget Revision 2027-04.

As the existing pumps that serve the Olympic Pool at the Larry Walkup Aquatic Center were reaching the end of their service life, funding was budgeted in the Major Facilities Maintenance (MFM) fund in fiscal years 2025, 2026 and 2027 for a retro-commissioning assessment, design and new pump installation, respectively. Throughout their life, the pumps have received yearly periodic maintenance and multiple minor repairs that have kept the pool in excellent operational condition. However, after 38 years of service, replacement is necessary.
In May 2025, the County hired Farnsworth Group Inc. to conduct a retro-commissioning engineering assessment of the Olympic Pool’s mechanical system, i.e. pumps, plumbing and filtration components. The assessment found that the existing pumps were slightly undersized to individually meet the current water filtration rate required for the Olympic Pool volume and that the manufacturer of the existing pumps had discontinued production of these pumps and replacement parts were no longer available.
