The Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board has historically met monthly on the third Tuesday from 12 to 1:30 p.m.; however, in calendar year 2025, quorum challenges resulted in only seven of the twelve scheduled meetings being held. It should be noted that in 2024, there were three meetings held and in 2023, only six meetings held due to lack of quorum. To address this issue, two alternative meeting schedules-a bimonthly option and a quarterly option-are attached for the Board’s consideration. For context, several New Mexico municipalities meet bimonthly, including Ruidoso, Moriarty, Las Cruces, and Rio Rancho, while others such as Edgewood, Corrales, and Española meet quarterly, and Farmington meets once annually. Among counties, meeting frequency also varies, with Santa Fe County meeting monthly, Taos County meeting no more than six times per year, and Sierra County meeting quarterly. It should be noted the counties listed all offer grant programs. It is recommended the board discuss which schedule they feel is best based on the quantity of work of the board.
