Title

Discussion and Possible Approval of Amendment No. 2 to Existing General Services Agreement No. AGR24-67 with Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico

Recommended Action

I move that Council approve Amendment No. 2 to the contract for general services, Agreement No. AGR24-67 with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico, a division of Health Care Service Corporation, to correct the individual and aggregate stop loss premium rates in Exhibit B of the original agreement.

County Manager's Recommendation

The County Manager recommends that Council approve the motion as presented.

Body

On October 9, 2024, Council approved AGR24-67 for Medical Insurance benefits for Los Alamos County Employees. In Exhibit B of the original agreement, the County and BCBS negotiated in good faith that the Individual Stop Loss Premium rate is $220.17 per employee per month (PEPM) and the Aggregate Stop Loss Premium Rate is $2.36 PEPM.

In the signed Agreement, Exhibit B contained the erroneous Individual Stop Loss Premium rate at $235.05 PEPM and the Aggregate Stop Loss Premium Rate at $2.19 PEPM.

This Amendment will correct the previously approved rates. BCBS will also audit and reconcile the premiums paid in error.

Should Council choose not to approve Amendment No. 2 to Existing General Services Agreement AGR24-67 with Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico, possible alternatives would include paying higher rates that negate the previously negotiated rates.

Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item

There is no fiscal impact to this item, as the rates were approved; however, the exhibit in the original Agreement was in error.
