Racial Equity and Inclusivity Task Force (REI) Final Report to Council and Possible Action
Recommended Action
I move that Council thank the Racial Equity and Inclusivity Task Force for their work and accept their report. I further move that the recommendations be included in FY 2024 proposed budget for consideration as budget options.

On July 29, 2022, the Racial Equity and Inclusivty Task Force unanimously approved the final report to be submitted to County Council.
Body
On May 30, 2021, Los Alamos County Council approved the formulation of the Racial Equity and Inclusivity Task Force (REI Task Force) by charter. The purpose of the REI Task Force was to serve as an advisory body to the County Council for the purpose of developing and recommending how the County can promote equity, inclusivity, and a feeling of belonging to the benefit of all and the betterment of the community.

Per the charter, "Providing a framework and forum for open and transparent discussions to understand and identity sustainable ways to continue progress towards this goal will by a key element of the Task Force's efforts."

On March 2, 2022, the Racial Equity and Inclusivity Task Force recommended that LAC procure membership to the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (G.A.R.E.) to County Council. On March 29, 2022, the County Council Adopted this recommendation and the membership has been obtained.

On March 6, 12, and 19, 2022, the Task Force hosted a Town Hall listening session to the community which allowed the public to voice various issues around racial equity and inclusivity within the community.

On March 14, 2022, the Task Force hosted a World Youth Cafe for the purpose of listen to youth in the community and discuss various issues around racial equity and inclusivity within the community.
