The Art in Public Places Board (APPB) requests Council approval to relocate the Frances Stovall 15” X 20” framed pastel painting “Fuller Lodge” (Attachment A) from the APP Storage Room. Ms. Stovall completed this painting in 2005. She has been well known in the community for her pastels that represent New Mexico landscapes, and her intricate designs and vibrant colors in stained glass and mosaics.
The painting was donated by the artist to the County’s public art collection in 2018 and was initially installed at the airport. During airport renovations, it was removed and placed in storage. In January 2022, APPB recommended that the painting be installed above the piano on the lower level of the Betty Ehart Senior Center. This recommendation was approved by Council in April 2022. However, for unknown reasons, the painting was never installed and remains in storage.
County staff have recently confirmed that the Senior Center is no longer interested in displaying the painting in the location approved in 2022.
