Title

Approval of Budget Revision 2025-56 to Budget Funds Received from the Law Enforcement Retention Fund

Recommended Action

I move that Council approve Budget Revision 2025-56 and include Attachment A as part of minutes of this meeting.

County Manager's Recommendation

The County Manager recommends that Council approves budget revision 2025-56 as requested.

Body

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) with the State of New Mexico grants funding to encourage retention among police officers within local entities. This year, Los Alamos County received $ 44,390 to be paid to officers based on their longevity. The original budget was an estimate of $25,400. The $18,991 covers the difference to the amount that was budgeted between salaries and benefits.

Alternatives

Council could choose not to approve the attached revision and the funds would need to be reverted back to the granting agency and funds paid to the officers would not be available.

Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item

The fiscal impact is detailed in Attachment A.
