Title

DPU Conservation Program Update

Body

The DPU Conservation Program has really expanded its reach and partnerships during 2025. Attached is an overview of the last six months and plans for the next six months. Numbers in parenthesis indicate attendance or items distributed.

Some highlights:

*         Our educational partner PEEC has procured Energy Bikes for a new program about how much effort it takes to create energy.

*       I sent out a very brief survey to those who have participated in the Induction Cooktop borrowing program through my office. I've received 46 responses out of 116 emails. 20 of those have indicated                      that they have purchased an induction cooktop unit (either full range or portable) because of this program. An additional 22 have indicated they intend to purchase a unit once the timing is right                      (budgets, upgrades, etc.).

*        We tried out several new events this year including tours of the WRRF and water production, as well as Bear Fest and Atomicon. All were very well received.

*        Moving forward to 2026, I'll be going through public engagement sessions for the Water and Energy Conservation Plan (WECP) to have an updated plan in place by FY27.

*        Anticipating the launch of Green Los Alamos Certification Program for business community.

*        Promoting dual-fuel technologies as efficient, transitional tools between gas and electric fuel sources.

*        Educating the differences between blinks, blips, and full-on outages to reduce unnecessary crisis response.

*        Introducing the next generation to induction cooking by getting involved with in-school and after-school programming.

*        Educating the public on Time of Use by helping them understand what their current usage is, providing example bills and supporting behaviors that shift load.
