On July 23, 2024, Ms. Lisa Shin submitted a petition on behalf of ten (10) people, at least five (5) of whom are registered voters of Los Alamos County. The petition (shown in Attachment A) was in response to a closed meeting on April10, 2024 between Los Alamos County staff and Columbus Capital representatives to discuss Columbus MariMac Village public funding request, requesting that the County Council establish a Metropolitan Redevelopment Commission and appoint members who represent the business community, have experience with property development banking/financial services. This commission would make advisory recommendations to the Council regarding County redevelopment, comply with NM state laws regarding the metropolitan development code and open meeting act. This will ensure community participation, an informal electorate, good governance, and transparency.
