Board/Commission Appointment - Planning & Zoning Commission

Recommended Action

I move that Council nominate and appoint Katherine Bruell [D] and Rachel Grimm [D] to the Planning & Zoning Commission for the term April 01, 2026 and ends on March 31, 2029.

Body

The purpose of this agenda item is to reappoint one Commissioner Katherine Bruell to a second term and appoint one new member Rachel Grimm to the Planning and Zoning Commission to fill a vacant seat.

 

This appointments will serve a term beginning April 1, 2026 and concluding March 31, 2029. The Commission consists of nine members serving staggered three-year terms beginning April 1 and ending March 31.

 

The current membership is as follows:

 

Karen A. Easton [R] - April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2028

Rebecca L. White [R] - April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2028

Robert Chrein [R] - April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2028

Marlon C. Brown [R] - April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2027

David Hampton [D] - April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2027

Ronald O. Nelson [D] - April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2027

Stephanie V. Nakhleh [D] - April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2026 (second term; term-limited)

Katherine Bruell [D] - April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2026

Rachel S. Adler [D] - April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2026 (second term; term-limited)

 

Commissioners Nakhleh and Adler are completing their second terms and are not eligible for reappointment, resulting in two vacancies effective April 1, 2026.

 

Party affiliations are noted as [D] Democrat, [R] Republican, [I] Independent, [G] Green, [L] Libertarian, [DTS] Declined to State, and [N] Not Registered to Vote.

 

Appointing these nominees will not violate the County Charter restriction concerning political party majorities on Boards and Commissions.
