Proclamation Designating September 19th, 2026, as National Clean Up Day in Los Alamos (Accepted by Environmental Services Management Analyst Joshua Levings)

Body

WHEREAS, National Clean Up Day is held annually with the goal of reducing litter and cleaning up local communities, parks, trails, and open spaces; and,

WHEREAS, the Los Alamos County Environmental Services Division, under the Public Works Department, has hosted a Clean Up Day in Los Alamos for more than two decades; and,

WHEREAS, this year marks the 23rd annual Clean Up Day-coinciding with the national effort-where Los Alamos residents will join more than two million volunteers from communities, corporations, civic organizations, and neighborhoods across the country to clean and care for our outdoor spaces; and,

WHEREAS, residents, businesses, and civic groups are encouraged to register for the Clean Up Day by Friday, September 11th, so Environmental Services can provide gloves, trash bags, and other equipment free of charge to support this community-wide effort.

NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council for the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby proclaim September 19th, 2026 as

“National Clean Up Day in Los Alamos County”

and call upon all citizens to join together in this community effort to keep Los Alamos clean, safe, and beautiful.

DATED this 8th day of September 2026.
