Approval of Department of Public Utilities Mission, Vision and Values, Strategic Goals and Objectives
Recommended Action
I move that the Board of Public Utilities approve the Mission, Vision and Values statements and the FY2025 Strategic Goals and Objectives as amended.
Utilities Manager Recommendation
The Utilities Manager and staff recommend approval of the Mission, Vision and Values statements and the FY2025 Strategic Goals and Objectives as amended. Objective 5.3 has some proposed language for this objective that the Board needs to review and select before a motion can be made to approve the FY2025 Strategic Goals and Objectives.
Body
The Utilities Manager is expected to annually develop strategic goals and objectives, and present them to the Board for approval. At a special meeting on August 28,2023, the Board was asked to provide input and update the Department’s strategic goals and objectives. This annual effort ensures alignment of focus areas, strategic goals and objectives while considering County Council’s priorities in their 2023 Strategic Leadership Plan. The changes suggested by the Board are included in the attached documents for continued discussion and approval. Once approved by BPU, DPU senior staff will then schedule their annual strategic planning meeting. The Board's direction and input will be used for the Department’s action planning and budget preparations for FY2025.
The attached list of goals and objectives reflects the changes made in the August 28,2023 meeting. Vice Chair Wright and Board Member Gibson were asked to proposed some language for Objective 5.3 on Gas Conservation that the full BPU needs to consider before finalizing this FY2025 Strategic Goals and Objectives Plan.

The Board may approve the documents as presented or suggest revisions.
