Proclamation Recognizing July 4th, 2026 as the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence (Accepted by Linda Carol Alt, Regent of the Valle Grande Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR))

WHEREAS, July 4, 2026 marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, when representatives of the United States of America declared these United Colonies as free and independent states; and,
WHEREAS, this bold declaration and the sacrifices given by countless individuals during the Revolutionary War birthed a new nation founded on the ideals of liberty, justice, and freedom for all; and,
WHEREAS, generations of people have come together to strive for a more perfect Union where individuals from around the world can find community, prosperity, equality, and peace; and,
WHEREAS, during this Semiquincentennial we celebrate the achievements of our nation and reflect on the past 250 years to build a more just and equitable society that reflects our collective strength, ingenuity, resilience, and compassion.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby proclaim July 4th, 2026, to be the
“250th Anniversary of American Independence”
in Los Alamos County and I ask our citizens to honor the birth of our nation through displays of patriotism by raising the American flag, participating in celebrations across the community, enjoying the Friday night concert at Ashley Pond Park, and joining the 4th of July Spectacular at Overlook Park-demonstrating how we can all uphold the ideals of liberty, justice, and freedom for all.
