Title

Amendment to the FY21 Salary Plan with the reactivation and re-grading of the Power Scheduler/Energy Analyst job description.

Recommended Action

I move that Council approve the amendment to the FY21 Salary Plan with the reactivation and re-grading of the Power Scheduler/Energy Analyst job description.

Utility Manager's Recommendation

The Utility Manager recommends that Council approve the motion as requested.

Body

The Utilities Department, in concert with PNM (Public Service Company or New Mexico) is being compelled to participate in an energy imbalance market beginning in January 2021 and in order to support the County's participation it is necessary to re-activate the previously archived Power Scheduler/Energy Analyst job description.  Following revisions to the archived job description, it is recommended that the grade for the Power Scheduler/Energy Analyst be a Grade 124 ($51,646 - $76,132) FLSA Non-Exempt. Council recently approved a request for a budget revision and an additional FTE related to this work.

Alternatives

Council could choose to not approve this new job description and reactivation for the FY21 Salary Plan.
