Approval of APP Board Recommendation Related to Proposal for the Cleaning and Restoration of Five (5) Rugs Hanging in Fuller Lodge
Suggested Motion
I move that the County Council approve the recommendation of the Art in Public Places Board regarding the cleaning a restoration of the following five rugs hanging in Fuller Lodge, “Hispanic Weaving - Rug II”, “Hispanic Weaving - Rug III”, Hispanic Weaving - Rug IV”, Hispanic Weaving - Rug V”, and “Hispanic Weaving - Rug VI”, by Rug Repair Restoration LLC with a total cost not to exceed $1,360 which does include a contingency budget.
Recommendation
The County Administrator recommends that Council approve the suggested motion as presented.
Body
Pursuant to paragraph 1 of Section Sec. 8-33, "The art in public places board shall serve in an advisory capacity to the county council and shall have the following functions, powers and duties: (1) Recommend to the council the acquisition and maintenance of all works of art funded from the art in public places account. The source selection provisions in county code sections 20-101 through 20-140 shall not apply to works of art recommended for acquisition by the art in public places board".

There are five rugs hanging in the Pajarito Room at Fuller Lodge that are in need of cleaning and color and moth damage restoration. These five rugs are: “Hispanic Weaving - Rug II”, by Alfredo Cordova, “Hispanic Weaving - Rug III”, by Harry Cordova, Hispanic Weaving - Rug IV”, by John R. Trujillo, Hispanic Weaving - Rug V”, by John R. Trujillo, and “Hispanic Weaving - Rug VI”, by Johanna Terragas, all purchased in 1988. Over the years the rugs have become faded and slightly damaged by moths.

The Art in Public Places Board has found a company from Albuquerque that has inspected and provided a quote for the work needed for these five rugs. Rug Repair Restoration LLC’s quote (Attachment A) includes picking up the rugs, washing with a gentle, non-damaging chemical, dye lock applicat...
