Title

Proclamation declaring Saturday, September 25th, 2021 as "Keep it Co-Op!" day in Los Alamos County, denoting the grand opening of the new "Co-Op Park" at 1010 Central Ave (accepted by representatives of the Los Alamos Keep it Co-Op association)

Body

WHEREAS:                     The Los Alamos “Keep it Co-op!” association is working to bring awareness of the value co-ops provide to Downtown Los Alamos; and

 

WHEREAS:                     Members of the association include Los Alamos Schools Credit Union, Zia Credit Union, Los Alamos Co-operative Market, Little Forest Playschool, Del Norte Credit Union and Bathtub Row Brewing Co-operative; Each member adheres to the cooperative principles of voluntary and open member-ownership, democratic member-owner control, member-owner’s economic participation, autonomy and independence, education, training and information, cooperation among cooperatives, and concern for the community; and

 

WHEREAS:                     In the spirit of cooperation, “Keep it Co-Op!” is continuing its investment in Los Alamos and serving co-op members by creating a new “Co-Op Park” adjacent to Los Alamos Schools Credit Union at 1010 Central, which will celebrate its grand opening on September 25th; and

 

WHEREAS:                     “Keep it Co-Op!” adheres to the principles of fostering community solidarity and resilience and is committed to offering a people-centered and environmentally just environment; and

 

WHEREAS:                     “Co-Op Park” will be a new resource for Los Alamos - featuring live events, a community garden, a space for outdoor youth education or place for community gatherings - and the Council applauds the association’s efforts to bring this new park to downtown Los Alamos;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby proclaim Saturday, September 25th, 2021 as

 

“KEEP IT CO-OP DAY!”

 

and encourage our citizens to attend the grand opening and enjoy the new park.
