The artist, Secundino Sandoval is a local Los Alamos artist, who just celebrated his 88th birthday. Mr. Sandoval is a well-known and beloved painter whose works are owned by many local collectors and individuals throughout the country. He studied painting under Randall Davey and oils under Leslie Burtenshaw. Secundino’s artistic talents emerged early in his life. His passion for painting and his independence was clear from the start as one of his early grade school teachers told that in kindergarten he was ready to defend his rights to his own crayons with a punch if necessary. Mr. Sandoval attended the University of New Mexico and received a BA from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. He was a technical illustrator for the US Army Aggressor Center and in 1952 went to work for the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory as a full-time draftsman and designer. He worked at the lab for 15 years before he left to become a full time artist. He has won many awards to his works. Public Comments were collected via Survey Monkey and at the July 30
