Title

Industrial Machine Maintenance

Recommended Action

I move that the APP board move forward with recommending to council entering a service agreement with Robert Davis, artist of the industrial machine, to perform maintenance and necessary/needed repainting of the sculpture. Total amount of the agreement, covering 6 years is not to exceed $10,000.

Body

Robert Davis, artist of the Industrial Machine, located at the Echo Station reached out to APP Board Liaison, Katherine Hudspeth to schedule maintenance on the sculpture. In looking at records and current processes, it was determined that before work can be scheduled a new Service Agreement needs to be executed. Robert Davis, previously held a Service Agreement, however it expired in 2015.

Per Mr. Davis: Maintenance consists of repainting, which has been done twice since installation, and bearing lubrication on the same schedule (about every 3 - 4years). The drive system has needed minor repair twice. Estimates from Mr. Davis are below:

                     -Lift rental is $1,250/day

                     -Paint supplies are $250

                     -Paint labor is $1,440

                     Total to paint: $2,940

Repairs could run anywhere from $300, if we don’t need to get on the roof to an extreme of two days lift rental, $2,500, plus parts and labor maybe twice that, so est. $5000.
