As part of the grant requirement, staff support is required. After discussions with procurement and HR it was determined the best avenue is to create an FTE for this position. As part of the process an agenda item will be going to County Council for approval of the FTE and also a budget reversion for the additional funding being allocated to the County from the grant.

The purpose of the grant is to allow CHC to promote and inform the local community on vaccine equity and to focus on community rebuilding after COVID-19. Funding supports planning work that is already a requirement of health councils, giving CHC a higher level of support. Further, funding supports CHC’s collaborative leadership, with a focus on vaccine equity and community building, accomplished through the health council collaborative. The funds equip health councils to better address critical local and state health and community building policy issues. The scope of work expectations include a strong commitment to health equity, capacity improvement, active participation in training, technical assistance, peer learning, community engagement, collaboration and communication, demonstrated outcomes and reporting. CHC has been awarded $50,000 per year for two years with the possibility of a 3rd year of funding. This funding is in addition to the $9,462 provided by Department of Health for FY2022.

The grant requires between 30 and 40 hours per week of dedicated staff time. With a very small staff already, SSD does not have the resources to meet this requirement. As such, if approved, SSD would hire a 3/4-time Office Specialist for a limited term of two years, contingent on grant funding, to focus on key activities within the scope of work.
