Recommended Motion
I move that Council approve a Memorandum of Understanding entered into by and between the Incorporated County of Los Alamos and the North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) for FY2022, Providing the NCRTD with $350,000.
Manager's Recommendation
The County Manager recommends that Council approve the Memorandum of Understanding as presented.
Body
The purpose of the MOU is to provide $350,000 in FY2022 to the NCRTD for local government matches of federal grants, additional reserve funds, and such other purposes as the NCRTD deems appropriate.
Beginning in federal fiscal year 2006, the County entered into MOUs directly with the NCRTD and has to date provided $8,050,000. in funding. Through these annual MOUs and as part of the County's regional partnership efforts, the County is willing to provide to NCRTD additional funding for capital and operational expenses, and to increase reserves. These partnership efforts promotes efficient, supportive, sustainable, and multi-modal transportation system services operated by the NCRTD to member entities located in the district.
The County fiscal year 2022 (FY22) budget, beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022, provides NCRTD with $350,000. NCRTD agrees to utilize the funds provided under this MOU as matching funds for federal grants on behalf of NCRTD and to maintain the NCRTD's midday service routes to Los Alamos County.
