Body

The Food Waste Composting Feasibility Study and Design contract agreement was approved by County Council on April 6, 2021. The County had a kick-off meeting with SCS Engineers on May 25, 2021, to discuss project scope, background, data needs and desired outcomes. Part of the scope of work is to gather public comment and engage with the Environmental Sustainability Board as part of the public engagement process.

SCS Engineers met with the ESB on July 15, 2021, at a regularly scheduled meeting to discuss the project scope and desired outcomes for the project.

SCS Engineers presented to the ESB on December 16, 2021, at a regularly scheduled meeting and discussed the quantification of food waste by sector, recommendations for organic waste feedstocks for various composting technologies, potential site locations, permitting requirements, best management practices, and regional partnership opportunities.

At this meeting, SCS Engineers will provide the ESB with an update on the research.
