Proclamation Marking January 28th as the 25th Anniversary of the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (Accepted by Bernadette Lauritzen)

Body

WHEREAS, the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO) began in January 1998 with Articles of Incorporation signed by Glenn Lockhart, Beverly Keenan, and Faith Stephens; and

 

WHEREAS, the small organization grew into a large organization that oversees both the Betty Ehart and White Rock Senior Centers and engages citizens aged 60 years old or older whose experiences and wisdom connect us to the past and help us meet the challenges of the future; and

 

WHEREAS, the organization with the assistance of volunteers has seen seniors through situations ranging from wildfires and a global pandemic to basic needs for information, food, and transportation; and

 

WHEREAS, the organization offers seniors safe locations for socializing, well-being, reading, dancing, exercising, conversing, listening to music, and relaxing; and

 

WHEREAS, the current LARSO Board Members are Tom McLaughlin, John Baillie, Kim Thomas, Don Gerheart, Jerry Fleming, Katie Fry, Kay Reiswig, Lee D'Anna, and, Don Dudziak; and

 

WHEREAS, the organization has benefited through strong executive directors over the years, beginning with Betty Ehart, Del Dyche, Pauline Powell Schneider, Linda Boncella and now, Bernadette Lauritzen.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby urge all community members to observe on January 28, 2023, the 25th Anniversary of the

 

LOS ALAMOS RETIRED SENIOR ORGANIZATION

 

and to recognize the various services, programs and activities they do, and continue to do, to honor and support our elderly population.
