Recommended Action

I move that Council direct the County Manager to ___________________________ in regards to next steps on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity program.

During a recent Council discussion on the Quality of Life strategic goal, Councilor Cull requested that staff bring back this item.  For the next steps for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity program, staff has developed a list of pros and cons for two options:  creation of new FTE (County staff member) and creation of permanent citizen Board.  Staff impacts are greater with a permanent

Fiscal and Staff Impact

There are staff impacts to both options as described in Attachment A.  It may be desirable to a staff member as one point of contact for the initiative but utilization of a board of citizens to staff outreach and public engagement will also necessitate support from regular County staff.  For this effort, it is not a clear decision of either a staff member or a citizen board but may be some combination of both choices.
