Member Karen Edwards will present A Bus for Us.
As a lifelong resident of Los Alamos, Member Edwards has been a regular transit rider since the introduction of our first transit service. Member Edwards has been blind from birth, so she utilized transit to take her children to and from daycare, to get to appointments, and to get to and from her job as a benefits specialist at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Although she is now retired, with Atomic City Transit, she can volunteer and give back to the community, shop, visit family and friends, and enjoy the area in which she lives. Currently, transit connects her to her volunteer work as a court-appointed special advocate for children in foster care in New Mexico’s 1st Judicial District and as a member of the Los Alamos Transportation Board. It also connects her to her children, grandchildren, friends and community members — just as it does for so many New Mexicans.
