Body
The Athletic Field Renovation Project was proposed in 2024 to renovate three athletic fields: Los Alamos - North Mesa Bomber and Overlook - Hope Field and Dara Jones. The athletic fields have exceeded their lifespan with no capital investment. The field project will level, recondition, re-sod, and replace irrigation heads to provide a safe sporting environment.
On January 25, 2024, the County advertised a formal competitive solicitation for field renovations through Invitation for Bid IFB No. 24-36. On February 15, 2024, no bids were received. The County re-advertised a formal competitive solicitation for project construction through Invitation for Bid IFB No. 24-62 on March 6, 2024. Two responses were received, with one being non-responsive and the second sent to the evaluation committee. The bid submitted with the required documentation was received on March 6, 2024, and the evaluation committee is recommending an award to LA Landscaping and More.
Upon Council approval, the Notice of Award will be sent to the contractor on April 23, 2024, and work will begin on or before May 20, 2024. The contract includes a substantial completion date for Base Bid on August 31, 2024, and a final completion date of September 30, 2024.
Alternatives
Council could choose to not approve the agreement and postpone or cancel the project.
