Approval of New County Manager
Recommended Action
I move that Council approve the appointment of Steven Lynne as County Manager for Los Alamos County and an Employment Agreement (effective July 14, 2021) as negotiated and hereby, authorize the County Council Chair to sign the agreement.
Body
The County Council recently conducted interviews with several applicants for the position of County Manager. As part of this process, three separate panels interviewed the selected applicants. Each panel's composition varied according to its members, with one panel representing each of the County Council, the County's Senior Managers, and members of the public.
Following the interview process, the Council considered the information received and initiated negotiations for employment with their preferred applicant. The result of such negotiations is represented by the attached document (Attachment A). The purpose of this agenda item is for Council to consider approval of this same agreement and approve the appointment.
Mr. Lynne's resume is shown in Attachment B.
Alternatives
The Council could choose to alter the proposed agreement (which would require reconsideration by Mr.Lynne) or to reject the agreement as presented.
Fiscal and Staff Impact/Planned Item
The position of County Manager is currently budgeted and the funds are available for this purpose.
